The new Hauwei Ascend G300 is set to go on sale exclusively through Vodafone for only £100 in pay as you go. The Ascend G300 is very much aimed at the lower end of the mobile phone market and brings with it a 1GHz processor, 4in WVGA touch screen, 512MB of RAM, a 5MP camera, 2.4GB of internal storage and micro SD slot.
It is currently on the Android Gingerbread system, with an upgrade to the Ice Cream Sandwich coming later in the year. This is the first handset from Huawei to feature the company’s new Android overlay, which is known as the Huawei Android Platform 5.1, or HAP 5.1 for short.
HAP 5.1, which at its heart has a simplistic Android experience will feature on the other new handsets that Huawei are planning to launch this year, these include the Huawei Ascend P1 S and the Huawei Ascend D Quad.
Vodafone has its exclusivity for the first 3 months, offering the Ascend G300 for £100 on PAYG, or free on contracts of £15.50 a month, that come with 100 minutes, 500 SMS and 250MB of data. Other networks are expected to be offering the handset after this time has elapsed.
