With the modern invention of the internet, finding insurance to cover your house has never been easier. Despite this, it still pays to take time to search for the best deal possible. This includes both comparison websites and checking each company individually.

Finding the best home insurance online

With the market as large as it is, cheap home insurance can be found that is also very reliable. If you are willing to shop around, then you stand to save a lot of money. Getting an online home insurance is a simple process, but you need to find the quote that comes with the right extras and features for you, as the quotes can change drastically depending on what is and isn’t included.

Accidental Damage and Emergencies

This may sound basic, but it is always important. How well and willing an insurance company is to cover accidental damage in and around the home is a good indicator of the policy’s efficiency. In short, if this isn’t included then it might be worth looking elsewhere.

Likewise, home emergency cover is something you will either want included as standard, or added on. Knowing that your insurance company will cover any costs of repairs in a given emergency, be it water damage, electric or something else, adds peace of mind to your day to day life.

Away from home

If you’re away from home often, than you will want to make sure that your house is insured. Some standard policies will not cover incidents during extended absence, or not cover emergency damages that happen whilst you are away. It is a common option, though, and one that should be taken if you go away frequently.

This policy should protect both your house and your possessions. You don’t want to come home from a trip to find that, not only have your possessions been stolen, but you didn’t have the adequate contents insurance to cover the costs of replacing them.

Essentially, you want to make sure that everything that is expensive or irreplaceable is covered. From the contents, to the building itself, you need to be covered if an accident or incident does occur. Yet this can still be done on a house insurance policy, if you know what to search.

While many may be focused on the trading patterns of Centrica, the greater focus should be on the small warning from the major energy provider that fuel bills are going to increase by the end of the year. Centrica offers energy around the UK under the brands of Scottish Gas and British Gas and stated that the wholesale gas costs in the UK are going to increase by 15% over this winter compared to the prices of last year.

To make matters worse, non-commodity costs are expected to add an additional cost of £50 to every household bill when you compile the added costs of each month together for the year. The Centrica group warned that energy costs are continuing to move upwards at its annual meeting and the news has already made the Citizens Advice charity on high alert.

Chief Executive of Citizens Advice Gillian Guy stated that the prospect of increasing fuel bills will worry those who are still having a hard time dealing with the increase in energy costs from last year. Guy went on to explain that most household budgets have reached their breaking point and they hope that British guy is going to think about the extra pressure they are going to place on customers and on their finances.

He added that energy companies need to keep their prices low in order to stop people from finding themselves in debt or potentially in fuel poverty. Guy also stated that those who are having problems with their fuel bills can get help by seeking out advice from the Citizens Advice Bureau.

With Greece’s future unknown and the progress of the talks between German Chancellor, Angela Merkel and the new French President, Francois Hollande, uncertain, the Eurozone crisis is getting worse. Add to that the trouble with the Spanish banks and it certainly looks as if big trouble is looming.

Despite this the German finance minister, Wolfgang Schaeuble, remains remarkably upbeat and is certain that with the new EU fiscal controls in place, the European single currency can survive. These fiscal controls include a 500 billion Euro bail-out fund.

He has said that although they want Greece to remain in the Eurozone, Greece must fulfill its’ obligations. He also said that there are now built-in mechanisms to protect the Eurozone to reduce the risks to other countries and that as a whole it is much more resistant.

The Daily Telegraph has reported that Germany think that Greece will leave the zone in the summer and that they are prepared for this. There have been more than a trillion Euros in loans from the European Central Bank since last December and there are new powers for the bail-out fund to protect Italian and Spanish banks from being affected.

Greece must form a new Government without elections by June when there is a deadline for their parliament to approve cuts of 11.5 billion Euros so that they can receive EU aid payments. If they don’t get this cash by July the country will be broke. International banks have already begun to prepare for Greece leaving the Eurozone.

Hartmut Grossman of ICS Risk Advisors, who do a lot of work for banks on Wall Street,

said that the financial institutions were ready for this and that Greece leaving the EU is not news. The EU was already technically in recession according to the spring economic reports from the European Commission.

The EU’s economic and monetary commissioner, Olli Rehn, gave growth forecasts for the EU that made grim reading and said that these forecasts had been revised downwards quite substantially for this year. He said that the situation was still fragile and that there was a long way to go before the EU reached sustained growth.

When you’re collecting digital and non-digital evidence, you run into an issue when it comes to managing it. Every case has a large amount of evidence associated with it. In the past, law enforcement agencies mostly dealt with the paper version of their files. Now, they have come up with a hybrid approach to keeping track of their case files. It’s difficult to keep track of solely paper case files unless you have copies spread across several different locations. The sensitivity of hard drives makes ensuring the safety of case files nearly impossible. Agencies who have a lot of computers on hand deal with the same computer problems as other companies. They might not have the expertise to service their computers properly, but the sanctity of their case files is of the highest priority. Many agencies have paper copes of digital case files in case their servers go down. The security level attached to these computers is nearly impenetrable. Hackers have tried to break though and gain access to sensitive information, but very few security breaches have been reported.

Interpreting large sections of data is another challenge altogether. You might have a hard time finding similarities between tens of thousands of case files, but that task is no match for modern digital forensics software. This software can compile enormous amounts of data for you and interpret it using the criteria of your choosing. You will no longer have to spend months or years pouring over case files and making endless notes. Dell Digital forensics software will have a solution to you before you have to take your lunch break. This convenience allows you to increase the overall level of efficiency in your agency. You will solve cases faster and be able to give other cases that would have fallen by the wayside a higher priority. Your agency will have to spend a little more to acquire digital forensics software, but any amount of money you might spend is worth it if you consider how important of a tool it will become. If your city also invests in a Dell VDI (virtual desktop interface) you will be able to work from anywhere on your network.

As technology continues to progress at such a rapid pace, it will become harder for law enforcement agencies to manage their evidence. Populations across the world continue to grow, which means these agencies are going to have more to add to their already tremendous workloads. It will become the role of digital forensics software to step in and sort everything out. Law enforcement personnel should still have the training to solve the cases on their own should they lack the luxury of using this software. The software should serve as nothing more than a tool to make the lives of law enforcement easier. Anything that increases the efficiency of sluggish agencies should have the highest priority in the minds of the taxpayers. They might resist at first, but if you convince them that purchasing digital forensics software is essential for the common good, you should have no problem securing the funds you need. It’s the responsibility of the citizens to provide law enforcement with the tools they need to do their job better.

If you are an active business professional then one thing you need to think about when you choose a mobile upgrade is what phone is going to provide you with the highest calibre of business functions.

Mobile phones have come a long way as a form of communication and now in addition to offering instant phone calls on the go are able to offer access to the internet, email clients, business networks, document managers, and plenty of other features that make them a necessity for communications in the business world.

With this in mind, before you upgrade to a new phone you may want to take a few minutes and head online to compare business mobiles to make sure that your next phone is suited to your individual needs. Nowadays, there are so many different types of business phones and platforms that it can be confusing to identify what the best choice for your needs really is.

Therefore, it is useful to take advantage of websites that allow you to compare and analyse what apps and services are really available from different phone models before making a purchase so that you can make sure you stay at the cutting edge of business communication.

One of the first things that you are going to want to take a look at is the platform that a mobile device runs off. While most mobile phones now are compatible with different operating systems, certain mobiles offer better integration than others when it comes to matching pre-existing business software.

Therefore, if you work in a business that operates on a certain platform you will find it to your advantage to choose a mobile phone that operates on the same platform. For instance, Apple users will usually find the most success with an Apple phone whereas PC users will find that the Android and Microsoft Windows mobiles are the best choices.

The next thing you need to look into are the type of software that comes pre-installed on a mobile and the type of apps that are available to allow you access to the programmes that you need while on the go. Built in E-mail clients, business networking, office packages, and similar features are all important for the business professional that often travels so that they can stay connected and continually working, even while outside of the office.

Finally, when choosing a business mobile you need to consider ease of use, because if the mobile is difficult to use you will not be any further ahead in the end. Many business professionals find that mobiles with full QWERTY keyboards are the best fit since they make editing and typing simple even while rushing towards an important meeting or travelling to another location.

Fast processing time is also an important requirement as a mobile that hangs around is not going to help you get ahead or quickly finish a business task that demands a quick turn around.

Over four million subscribers found themselves suddenly kicked out of www.thepiratebay.se this past Wednesday after the website was blocked following an application to the High Court by the record industry trade body, BPI. Based in Sweden, The Pirate Bay offers a full index of copyrighted films, songs, and television shows to users that are willing to download them using the BitTorrent file sharing service.

Anyone that attempts to access the Pirate Bay will be led to another blank page that merely states it is not ‘available through Virgin Media.’ The broadband company, as well as four other broadband firms, was prepared in expectation of a ruling from the High Court this week.

Virgin Media is using its ‘web blocker’ system to block the file sharing website that it has previously used to block and restrict access to child pornography and abuse on the web. Users are already attempting to strike back on their own, sharing tips and advice on how to get around the website blocking on Twitter and advising each other how to get to other addresses that are not part of the block order issued by the High Court.

Over time the High Court could choose to cut off more addresses however and the publicity will only likely help it happen sooner instead of later. The Pirate Bay is the second file sharing website o fits kind to be blocked by the High Court after Newzbin2 was targeted during 2011.

After legal attacks on websites have failed the entertainment board decided that the best way to get to file sharing websites was to head to court and force broadband providers to block access to the websites.

The Bank of England governor admitted this week that he was not able to successfully prevent the British banking system from collapsing under the worst recession in the last eight decades. Sir Mervyn King also implicated the Bank of England in the disaster stating that some may wonder why they did not help prevent the disaster from occurring, stating that they should have been able to.

He also admitted that the Bank of England regrets that they did not properly warn the public that the economy was about to crash as millions are now still suffering the fallout. The event was notable for more than just the apology however, as King’s radio broadcast as the first to be made in over seven decades.

The main sentiment expressed was not that the Bank was not aware of what was impending, but instead that they did not do enough to prevent it from happening. He did add however that the Bank has not been allowed to regulate the banking industry since 1997, but also noted that they do have the power to preach and warn consumers and that they did not do enough leading up to the economic crash.

According to King, they could have told the public better about the impending financial crisis possibly helping people adjust before they were hit. He also said that he has a large amount of sympathy for the many victims and that there are now millions of people looking for work which he believes is unfair.

In addition, he added that bankers that are still taking their bonuses even though the firms are suffering or taxpayers are suffering are wrong and that they should think twice about their actions because they are disrespectful of the current economic situation in the UK.

The unemployment rate in Spain has risen to nearly 25 percent which goes to show how much worse the economic situation has become in the country in recent years. The figure has also caused the credit ratings agency, Standard and Poor’s to downgrade the credit rating of the country. Currently around 6 million people in the country are unemployed according to the government’s National Statistics Institute.

The credit rating agency dropped Spain’s credit rating by two notches, rather than just one, and stated that they expect the economic recession in the country to continue until 2013. Spain is already struggling to reduce its annual deficit and reduce the amount of debt in the public sector. It is possible that they are going to require more financing from the banking sector. The country now has a credit rating of BBB+ making it a low grade investment.

The Foreign Minister of Spain was recently involved in a radio interview in which he stated that the employment rate is terrible for the people and terrible for the government. He commented, “The crisis in Spain is enormous.” The government have said they are committed to reducing the deficit in line with EU recommendations.

According to the United Nations, international monitors have recently moved into a Syrian hot spot in order to stop the violence. The spokesperson from the team, Neeraj Singh, has stated that two observers have been put in the city which is located in the south of Syria.

The city is Daraa, where the uprising against the current president Assad, began around a year ago. Activists in the area were already planning protests to take place on Friday that were against the current regime.

Currently there are 15 monitors placed by the UN in Syria and they are currently working on a plan that is going to end the fighting. Unfortunately, this is not working so far and violence in the country has not stopped. The video of the boy who had been shot dead by troops recently appeared on the Internet which just goes to show how the situation in the country has deteriorated.

An explosion earlier in the week destroyed a block of houses which is estimated to have killed 16 people. The government, and their opposition, have traded blows about who was responsible for the explosion. Anti-government protesters have said that the government were responsible for shelling the building, thinking that it was occupied by activists. The government has strongly denied this and has placed blame firmly on the rebels.

The spokesperson for Kofi Anan, the United Nations special envoy has stated that there is currently no word from the observers who have gone to visit the city. There are also two observers placed in Hama in preparation for 15 more monitors who are going to arrive in order to help end the violence and bring both parties to the negotiating table. Over the coming weeks it is expected that the UN presence in the country is going to increase by around 300 people.

SANA is a state run news agency in the country and it has been stating that the rebels caused an explosion because they were mishandling explosives which resulted in many deaths. This is something that has been denied by many anti-governmental activists including the Local Coordination Committees.

The total death toll from the event is currently not known, 16 people have been confirmed dead, but it is possible that the death toll may rise to over 70 people. The government are not expected to announce an official death toll within the next few days.
